Just realised all three are red..woops.
So Coca-Cola really doesn't need a symbol. It's one of the most recognisable brands in the world, plus it in itself is its symbol. The Coke logo is the same.
Canon have a logo that is quite unique. It is so simple but the 'flicks' on the letters and the logotype itself really distinguish it from other manufacturers.
Nintendo have used this logo since day one. It really doesn't get much simpler than the Nintendo logo. It's kinda funny, if I handed in a logo like this one for an assignment I don't think I would do too well, however this logo is world famous...probably because of its reputation and marketing more than anything...but you get what I'm getting at.
I feel that if a logo is designed properly with aspects like original fonts or shapes and individuality, it isn't necessary to have a symbol to sell your identity. Brand recognition like the brands above have takes millions and millions of dollars and many many years though.

Week 7 - Assesment 3
BPay as a logo is pretty appealing because of the 'B' they have used. It acts as a symbol too and really embeds the service/logo in peoples minds. The use of a single colour keeps it simplpe, something BPay is meant to be
Sony have barely changed their logo over the years and like most electronic companies, simplicity and the use of a single colour sells. It is also better in terms of brand placement on products.
Vodafone is appealing because of it's font/symbol use in the name and the use of red, a colour that attracts everyone. Im a big fan of simple design..if its effective and I think vodafone have achieved this.

Week 6 - Assesment 3
These three logos have the 'personality' of a spoon. Seriously, try talking to them...umm yeah, not too sure how to comment on a logos personality but I feel that all three tell their own story. Clearly, the apple logo is that of apple computers. This one is the old logo, the new one doesn't have the same colours. This logo cries out individualism and different thinking...after all, they are a computer company with a logo of an apple...?? Explain that.
The yellow and black logo, as pretty much everyone in Australia should know, is Commonwealth Bank Australia. It is made up of the southern cross...as far as I know. The logo displays order, rigidity simplicity, something most people would want from a bank.
Navman produce GPS units. This logo kind of looks like it's triangle thing is like the triangulation GPS units use to tell you where you are.
All three logos produce well at small size beacuse they are simple and are not full of fine lines.
